Spared

My sister has informed me that she has spoken with our father and that he has indicated Bubbie is alive and well and made it to Texas.

Thank you for your sympathy and support.

Mitch--Glad to hear everything is all right with your family. I honestly can't believe that so many people were left, as you put it, "sitting ducks" in the wake of one perilous disaster of which the ripple effect will be felt for years.

I have a friend in the National Guard and she is down there right now helping to keep the peace. I am very worried about her because all the displaced civilians are so hostile and members of law enforcement, and even rescue helicopters are being shot at!

My mind cannot even begin to fathom what it would be like to endure a natural disaster of such ghastly proportion. I think we've all been given one big reality check over the past week, and been given a reminder of how fortunate and lucky we are.

Enjoy the rest of your Labor Day weekend!

I'm glad to here that your grandma is still alive. I lost my grandmother to a car accident and subsequent heart attack almost six years ago, and I still miss her dearly..

Thanks everyone. I talked to my dad yesterday and it was really good to hear the relief in his voice. I am very glad that Bubbie made it out OK.
